Make capture feel native
Integrated Android share intents and deep links so a user can send a link into Sorted or open a specific destination directly.
CASE STUDY · 2026
Keep your links, sessions, and reminders close at hand.
A Flutter Android app for saving links into workspaces, planning phone sessions, and returning to saved context with reminders.
OVERVIEW
I built the Sorted Android app in Flutter around reusable widgets and responsive layouts for workspaces, saved links, planned sessions, and reminders. It shares account data with the wider Sorted product while adding native capture and notification flows for phone users.
A saved link is only useful when someone can get back to the right place with the right context. The app needed to support quick capture from other Android apps, direct navigation into a workspace, reliable sync, and reminders that still make sense after a user leaves the app.
HOW I APPROACHED IT
Integrated Android share intents and deep links so a user can send a link into Sorted or open a specific destination directly.
Connected Firebase Authentication, including email/password and Google Sign In, with Cloud Firestore and REST APIs for app data and service integrations.
Added scheduled local notifications for planned sessions and reminders, bringing saved work back at the time the user chose.
Added unit and widget tests for deep links, URL validation, layout behavior, and state persistence, then released the Android app on Google Play.
OUTCOME
Sorted App is available on Google Play, giving users a mobile route for saving links, planning sessions, and returning to workspaces with shared account data and native capture flows.
